Scholarships for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples

The Public Health Association Australia (PHAA) is offering scholarships to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to attend the Communicable Diseases & Immunisation Conference (CDIC), to be held in Adelaide, South Australia from Tuesday 10 to Thursday 12 June 2025.

The conference theme is 'Future directions for immunisation and communicable disease control: embracing ideas, innovations and improvements'. The conference will provide an opportunity for practitioners, policymakers and researchers to gather and share their knowledge and ideas, make new connections and reinvigorate existing collaborations to and work together to formulate new ways to address the challenges facing us for communicable disease control in 2025.​

Eligibility 

To be eligible, applicants must be individuals who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

  • Applications open Thursday 31 October 2024.

  • Applications close at 11:59pm AEST, Wednesday 9 April 2025.

  • The successful applicant(s) will be notified by mid-April 2025.

Selection Process

Assessment of applications will be based on applicants’ anticipated benefits of attending the conference. The selection process decision is final. 


Scholarship Benefits

There is a limited budget for this initiative. The sum offered to each applicant will be influenced by the number of applications received. Applicants will be advised on their scholarship inclusions at the time the scholarship is awarded. Any amount over the approved value is the responsibility of the recipient. Scholarships will at a minimum cover conference registration, including the conference welcome reception (Tuesday 10 June) and Welcome Dinner (Wednesday 11 June). Scholarships may also include funding towards travel & accommodation costs.

Please note the scholarship will not include:

  • Meals (apart from conference catering).

  • Land transfers (taxi, bus, trains)

  • Incidental expenses.​
